Snout of a debris-flow deposit that formed in the Sabino Canyon of the Santa Catalina Mountains, Tucson, Arizona, in July 2006. This was not an isolated event, 100s of debris-flows trundled down steep mountain slopes across southeastern Arizona during unusually high rainfall events in July of that year. Lee Allison, then Director of the AZGS is pictured here on the left.
