Sand and gravel deposits are the backbone and building stone of America's cities, roads and homes. This quarry is located in the channel of the Agua Fria River on the west side of the Phoenix metro area. The upper portion of the deposit is coarse and rich in pebbles and cobbles. These are late Pleistocene river deposits of the Agua Fria River.
