Bio
Tawnya is a geoscientist specializing in basin analysis and subsurface characterization studies related to carbon sequestration and hydrogen storage for the Arizona Geological Survey (AZGS). Prior to joining AZGS, Tawnya worked in the oil and gas industry as a senior development geologist where she did strategic horizontal well planning, performed regional reservoir characterization studies for water disposal, and worked as an operations geologist supporting the drilling phase in the Permian Basin of West Texas. Her expertise lies in basin and borehole analysis, stratigraphy and sedimentology, geophysical log and seismic interpretation, and subsurface geologic mapping. Her research interests include subsurface characterization, basin evolution, energy resources, sedimentology, paleoclimatology, and hydrogeology of the American southwest.
