A geologic disconformity represents a period of non-deposition or erosion between two parallel layers of sedimentary rocks. Near Petrified Forest National Park in northern Arizona, the Mio-Pliocene age Bidahochi Formation lies disconformably on the Upper Triassic Chinle Formation.
