The 3,100 feet thick Verde Formation, which comprises fluvial and lacustrine rocks of Plio-Miocene-age. is well exposed in hills and road-cuts of Central Arizona's Verde Valley area. It unconformably overlies the Hickey formation in the Jerome area, Yavapai County (Anderson and Crease, 1958). Consisting mostly of lake deposits it's subdivided into a limestone and clastic facies.
This marly limestone outcrop is situated in a road-cut along I-17.
