Well-rounded Pleistocene Verde River cobbles fill a paleochannel cut into basin fill deposits below Bartlett Reservoir in Maricopa County, AZ. Multiple Pleistocene Verde River terraces in the vicinity at successively lower elevations record the Verde River’s incision through time. This terrace lies 15-20m above the modern channel.
Note that the cobbles are well-rounded and represent a broad suite of rock types. (Photo by Joe Cook)
