Earth fissures present challenges to property owners, buildings, and infrastructure - such as buried utilities. El Paso Natural Gas Company transports natural gas from the Permian Basin of Texas to central Arizona and beyond. Near San Simon, in eastern Arizona, the gas pipeline encounters earth fissures. On several occasions, as this image illustrates, fissures have exposed the buried natural gas pipeline.
AZGS staff immediately report any exposure of gas pipeline or other utilities to the appropriate authorities.
