The I-17 corridor between Phoenix and Flagstaff winds through a landslide-prone area north of Black Canyon City. In this image, the areas masked in red are landslide deposits probably of Quaternary-age. Some of these landslide masses are easily observed while driving along the highway. A planned highway widening project by ADOT will use the data from AZGS Arizona Statewide Landslide Inventory Database to assist them in designing and engineering the new road.
