Black Mesa in northern Arizona's Navajo Nations rests largely on Cretaceous sedimentary rocks: from youngest to oldest, Yale Point Sandstone, Wepo Formation and the Toreva Formation. All of which rests on the older Mancos Shale and Dakota Formation.
