Panorama of the United Verde Open-Pit Copper Mine, Jerome, Arizona. The principal ore was copper, but gold, silver, and manganese, were also mined. Unlike most copper mines in Arizona, the United Verde is hosted in a Proterozoic volcanogenic massive sulfide deposit that formed on and in ancient oceanic crust.
