Interactive Maps

Arizona Subsurface Viewer

This interactive map was created to share data about Arizona’s diverse geologic subsurface environments. It contains 46 individual layers of data in 9 categories, many of which are downloadable and highlights important data sets resulting from numerous past and current research projects including: deep saline groundwater; bedded salt deposits; carbon dioxide utilization, storage, and mineralization; subsurface hydrogen and other gas storage; critical mineral resources (e.g. helium, potash, etc.) and geothermal resources. This data visualization tool makes it easy to quickly compare many spatially integrated datasets and can be used to view and share data, scope projects, and build custom maps and figures.

Rock Resources for Carbon Mineralization Viewer

This interactive map hosts complete physical and geochemical characterization of mafic rock samples from around the state and benchmark ex-situ CO2 reaction data from a subset of those samples. Datasets include new and legacy sample geochemistry; new sample physical rock descriptions, hand sample photos, and thin section photos; modified legacy geologic maps of high-magnesium lavas; locations of known cinder pits and mines; well TDS data within 3 km of highly-reactive scoria cones (where available); and, most importantly, benchmark reaction extent data for a subset of new samples. The viewer can be used to evaluate the location and geochemical and physical properties of mafic scoria and basalt which are suitable for ex-situ mineralization.
