Imbricated stream deposits, Little Colorado drainage

Imbricated stream deposits, Little Colorado drainage

Imbrication - a primary depositional fabric that manifests as an alignment of coarse sediments (pebbles) - occurs here in a Pleistocene conglomerate exposed in a former tributary channel feeding the Little Colorado River in the vicinity of Grand Falls, northern Arizona.

The ruler is aligned with the imbrication. Flow was from left to right.
