Leadership changes and celebrating Ann Youberg's career

Earlier this week, the AZGS community gathered to celebrate Ann Youberg's career. Ann has been at AZGS for 26 years, where she has been leading our Geohazards team.
As they celebrated her retirement, Ann's colleagues shared stories of her expertise in geologic mapping and post-fire processes. They also shared stories of her exceptional ability to make and build connections: "everyone knows and likes Ann" was said many times.
Colleagues presented Ann with framed photos of her AZGS colleagues and some fun times in the field.
Multiple retirements from Ann and Phil Pearthree (the former State Geologist) have ushered in some exciting other staffing changes. Joe Cook now leads the Geohazards group, and Jeri Young is leading a newly formed Geophysics team. Lisa Thompson now leads the Energy Geology group, as Brian Gootee has filled Phil's former role of AZGS Director. Fortunately for us, both Ann and Phil plan to continue working as Research Scientists at AZGS in a part time capacity.
