Strawberry Crater Wilderness, Coconino National Forest

Strawberry Crater Wilderness, Coconino National Forest

Strawberry is in the northeastern portion of the San Francisco volcanic field. It erupted in the Pleistocene about 50,000 years. Towards the end of the eruptive cycle, a lava flow spilled out from the east base disrupting the cone and rafting the cone interior away. The lava flow is dotted with pieces of cinder cone.
