Arizona has substantial salt resources: rock salt, potash, gypsum, and anhydrite. In fact, some of the deposits are among the thickest such deposits to be found anywhere in the world. Industrial solution mining of salt occurs in the Phoenix basin. Salt deposits near Phoenix, and Holbrook are used as geologic repository for storing liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
