New AZGS minedata site is up!

Tuesday, August 5, 2025
Arizona Geological Survey

We are excited to announce that the Arizona Mine Data Repository (AZMDR) has a new home at https://mininginfo.azgs.arizona.edu/

AZMDR started as a historical collection of more than 20,000 papers, photos, maps, assays, letters, and other physical records related to mining in Arizona. These items were originally collected by the Arizona Department of Mines and Mineral Resources, but were placed under AZGS stewardship in 2011. AZGS spent the next 5 years (2011-2016) working to preserve these materials and make them digitally available through a searchable website. Since then, the Arizona community has used AZMDR for historical studies and geologic investigation (Conway et al. 2022). It remains one of our most used and beloved products. If you’ve never used it before, we encourage you to check it out now.
