Chuska Energy well No. 5 in the Black Rock field in northeastern Arizona, Apache County. Chuska drilled the No. 5 well to a total depth of 6132 ft in the Mississippian Redwall Limestone. The No. 5 produced 4422 barrels of oil and 1.3 billion cubic ft of natural gas from the Pennsylvanian Paradox Formation before it was plugged in October 2005. The well sits at the northern base of Chezhindeza (Black Rock) Mesa, a part of the laccolithic intrusive complex of the Carrizo Mountains. (Photo by Steve Rauzi.)
