Kitt Peak is situated in the Baboquivari Mountains of southern Arizona. The road to Kitt Peak winds through Jurassic granites, some of which require bolting to prevent them from collapsing onto the road. This particular slab is just short of the parking lot for Kitt Peak. Several of the bolts keeping the granite face in place are encircled by gold.
